A visit to Kent
Last week I went down to Kent for a few days to stay with friends near Great Chart in Kent.
It is always nice to go down and have good beer, good food and enjoy a glass of quality gin flavoured with home-grown Sicilian lemons…. all in a lovely rural atmosphere.
Makes a nice change from Birmingham!
On the first day we went for a walk, along with the three dogs. This was after feeding Magic, the horse.
In the afternoon we went to Rye. Rye is a lovely Medieval town with quaint cobbled streets and some great Fish and Chip shops!
Mermaid Street in particular is very interesting lined with half-timbered houses and tiny alley-ways.
In the evening we went for a pint at The George Inn, in Bethersden.
This is a community pub, ie it has been bought by and is run by the local community. It has a lovely atmosphere and good beer.
The next day we went to Faversham, another Medieval market town with a wealth of history. Faversham is set on the river Swale on a tidal estuary and, like Rye, has some great antique shops.
… A lovely break.
Thanks Phil and Denise!
Looking forward to next time.
Thank you for an interesting visit via your photos…. it all looked very attractive!
Hello. Good cheer to all on this beautiful day Good luck :
