The Aurora

Like a lot of people, I enjoyed seeing the Aurora last night, although, living in Birmingham there is a lot of light pollution.
I say that but my neighbour’s son took an amazing photo with his new camera (his mobile phone has LiDAR …. I definitely have camera envy!)
The Aurora Borealis is caused when electrically charged particles from the sun (sometimes called Solar Wind) collide with particles in the Earth’s upper atmosphere causing them to glow.
Normally this is only visible from a lot further north like Norway so we are extremely lucky to be seeing it in the UK,
This could have been the biggest electrical storm since 2003.
